Mandatory Evacuation

Some in the media criticize the tourists, residents, sick and infirmed, poor, and the ones who said I'm not going to leave everything that I have behind for what is happening to them after the hurricane and the flood. Yes, those who remained were stranded. Does anyone ever stop to consider that those who remained had no way out?

I live in the Washington, DC area. 95 North and South are less than a mile from me. I cross the over pass everyday where I can see the traffic flow in both directions. It takes me 2 hours to drive 23 miles on some Saturdays and Sundays. Forget rush hour... I can't get anywhere fast on most days regardless of the time or day. If the President and his cabinet had to evacuate Washington, DC by car without a police escort, they would perish with the rest of us.

What about those without cars? What about those without money for gas? What about those who did not want to leave their loved ones and wanted to stay together as a family?

I am not blaming George Bush for the hurricane the hit the Gulf Coast. Although, many politicians could have made the levee situation there a priority and didn't, I'm not even blaming them. I find fault with the fact that there was no plan. There was no timely response. There were no ships and supplies waiting to be dispatched immediately after our worst nightmare became a reality. The reoccurring dream that became a living hell for thousands and a cemetary for countless numbers.

How could you not have questions for our president and federal government regardless of party affiliation? All that perished, all that were stuck, all that are in misery are not democrats. To hell with politics!!! Human beings, Americans are perishing as I type, and they have been for days and days!

This is a disgrace. To think otherwise is sad, sad, sad and shamefull!
