M. Scott Peck, author of "The Road Less Traveled" and many other books, passed away on Sept. 27, 2005. -Beliefnet.com

Beliefnet.com: "M. Scott Peck, best-selling author and psychiatrist, who became a nondenominational Christian minister later in life, has died of cancer at the age of 69. His 1978 book, 'The Road Less Traveled,' was one of the most influential self-help books ever published. A pioneering thinker on the relationship between religion and psychology, Dr. Peck's recent work explored spirituality and self-awareness, as well as controversial questions of demonic possession and the reality of Satan. In addition, in books such as 'A Different Drum,' he advocated the power of healthy communities to promote deep human connections. Please add your thoughts and prayers."
