AP Wire | 09/04/2005 | Oklahoma disaster workers await arrival of New Orleans evacuees: "BRAGGS, Okla. - At least 34 buses carrying evacuees from the storm-ravaged Gulf Coast region arrived late Saturday at an Oklahoma National Guard barracks in northeast Oklahoma, an emergency official confirmed late Saturday.

The buses loaded with weary Hurricane Katrina survivors began arriving at about 10 p.m., said Nellie Kelly, a spokeswoman for Tulsa chapter of the American Red Cross.

Emergency officials said additional buses may still arrive tonight, and that they're expecting about 2,000 evacuees.

On Friday, dozens of National Guard troops, doctors, nurses and law enforcement officers began assembling a shelter at Camp Gruber, a remote National Guard training site about 18 miles southeast of Muskogee in northeastern Oklahoma, Friday afternoon."
