Press Conference on Wrongful Arrest of Man Accused of Rape..NBC29 Local News Article
NBC29 Local News Article: "Charlottesville police say DNA evidence shows the man they arrested last weekend and charged with rape is not the serial rapist. In fact, he's not a rapist at all.
Police Chief Tim Longo apologized to Christopher Matthew and his family Thursday but defended the way his department is handling the investigation. Chief Longo said Christopher Matthew matched the suspect description given by the rape victim. But they now know that he didn't do it, and his DNA also doesn't match forensic evidence collected from crimes attributed to the serial rapist.
Matthew was released from jail Wednesday after forensic testing eliminated him as a suspect in the city's latest sexual assault. Police said the victim identified him by appearance and voice, giving them probable cause to arrest him/"
