DailyProgress.com | Torture tour goes too far

DailyProgress.com | Torture tour goes too far: "Life-sized pictures show - be warned: These descriptions are graphic - a chicken burning alive next to a photo of a white mob surrounding a charred black body, a seal being clubbed next to a photo of a white man stomping on a black man’s head, and a drawing of a woman being branded next to a depiction of a cow being branded.

“Racism and sexism [are] as deplorable as discrimination against animals,” said Sangeeta Kumar, PETA’s education coordinator.

Wrong.

Racism and sexism, certainly when expressed as violence, are far worse than “discrimination” against animals.

Even Ms. Kumar’s language reveals a shocking bias: She sets “discrimination” against animals as the standard against which racism and sexism should be measured.

Nothing could be further from the truth.

It was unconscionable to treat humans like farm animals during the era of slavery.

That does not mean, however, that farm animals should be treated like humans."
